Yasouj University, located in southwest Iran, is the oldest higher education institute in Kohgiluyeh-and-Boyer-Ahmad province. This state university was founded in 1983 as an Engineering and Technical institute. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the progress of this university accelerated. Today, with four decades of experience, it is a university with highly skilled faculty members, advanced research equipment, and suitable welfare facilities. Moreover, according to international rankings, such as Times Higher Education (THE), Yasouj university has been among the top universities in Iran in recent years (e.g., in 2020 our university ranked 2nd in Iran and 400-500 in the world).

         This university consists of six faculties, among which, four faculties of Engineering, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Sciences, and Humanities are in Yasouj city. The faculty of Petroleum and Gas and the faculty of Technology and Mining are located in the cities of Gachsaran and Choram, respectively. Yasouj university offers more than 30 bachelor's, 50 master's, and 20 Ph.D. degree programs. More than 230 faculty members and about 150 staff members are working at this university. About 8% of our faculties are full professors, 30% are associate professors, and about 61% are assistant professors. The presence of some professors of this university in the list of top one percent scientists in the world indicates the high academic capability of its faculty members.

More than 6000 native and international students are studying at Yasouj university. Acquiring the skills and knowledge through studying at this University, the graduates have obtained prominent scientific and professional positions worldwide.

Some unique features of Kohgiluyeh-and-Boyer-Ahmad province have also played a significant role in creating the thriving condition for the development of Yasouj University. For example, twenty-five percent of Iran's oil is extracted from the oil supplies of this province, and ten percent of national freshwater resources is in this region. Besides, abundant natural resources, dense forests, vast pastures, and pristine nature are seen all around this province.
